2205 Stainless Steel Welded Pipe

2205 stainless steel welded pipes are available in outer diameters of 10-3000mm, wall thicknesses of 0.5-30mm, and standard lengths of 6m/12m. Welding processes are primarily TIG/MIG, with surface pickling and passivation. Connection methods include welding and flanges. Custom processing is available with short and reliable delivery times.

Performance Advantages: Duplex structure (50% austenitic + 50% ferritic), yield strength twice that of 316L, strong resistance to chloride pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, PREN ≥ 35, allowing for thinner wall thicknesses to reduce costs, good weldability and toughness, and suitable for temperatures from -40℃ to 315℃. Applications: Marine engineering, seawater desalination, oil and gas transportation, chemical equipment, flue gas desulfurization, pulp and paper manufacturing, and other harsh corrosive environments.

Selection Recommendations

Corrosion Resistance

PREN≥42.5, contains 6% Mo, extremely strong resistance to pitting/crevice corrosion, stress corrosion cracking life in high-chlorine environments is about 30% higher than 2205, suitable for extreme corrosive conditions

PREN≥35, duplex structure provides good corrosion resistance, better resistance to chloride stress corrosion than 316L, critical pitting temperature above 75℃

For extreme high-chlorine/acidic environments, choose 254SMO; for general corrosive conditions, 2205 offers better cost-effectiveness.

Strength Properties

Tensile strength ≥650MPa, yield strength ≥310MPa, elongation ≥40%, excellent toughness

Tensile strength ≥620-795MPa, yield strength ≥450-550MPa (approximately 1.5 times that of 254SMO), elongation ≥25%

For high-pressure/high-strength requirements, choose 2205, which allows for thinner wall thickness and cost reduction.

Applicable Temperature

Excellent low-temperature toughness from -196℃ to 400℃, outstanding performance in medium and low temperature corrosive environments

-40℃ to 315℃, at high temperatures, the stability of the duplex structure is slightly inferior to 254SMO

For ultra-low temperature or below 400℃ applications, choose 254SMO; for normal temperature ranges, 2205 is sufficient.

Price Range

Approximately 30-35 RMB/kg (welded pipe), 3-5 times that of 316L, significantly higher than 2205

Approximately 25-30 RMB/kg (welded pipe), 50%-100% higher than 316L, lower than 254SMO

For limited budgets, choose 2205; for extreme conditions where necessary, choose 254SMO.
