7075 Aluminum Square Tube

7075 Aluminum Square Tube (typically T6/T651) is an ultra-high-strength aluminum alloy, with strength approaching that of some low-carbon steels, and a density of only about 2.81 g/cm³, resulting in an extremely high strength-to-weight ratio.

I. Typical Mechanical Properties (T6/T651, Room Temperature)

Tensile Strength: 510–572 MPa

Yield Strength (0.2%): 470–503 MPa

Elongation δ₅: 5–11%

Elastic Modulus E: ≈71.7 GPa

Hardness: ≈150 HB / 87 HRB

II. Comparison of Different Conditions

O (Annealed): Low strength (≈270 MPa), good plasticity (δ≈20%), easy to bend and cold work.

T6 (Peak Aging): Highest strength, medium toughness, suitable for high-strength structural components.

T651 (Stress Relief): Same strength as T6, lower internal stress, less prone to deformation and cracking.

T73/T74 (Over-Aging): Slightly reduced strength (≈460–480 MPa), better resistance to stress corrosion.

III. Features and Applications

Advantages: High strength, lightweight, good machinability;

Disadvantages: Poor weldability, average corrosion resistance in ordinary environments (requires anodizing/coating protection);
