Comparison of Corrosion Resistance between 321 and 304 Stainless Steel Coils

1. Normal Temperature Environment: Both have roughly equivalent corrosion resistance. Their rust prevention effects are similar in everyday atmospheric, humid, and water-based environments.

2. Post-Welding Conditions: 321 is far superior to 304.

304 is prone to intergranular corrosion after welding, leading to rust and cracking at the weld joint. 321 contains titanium, which stabilizes the metallographic structure, preventing post-weld intergranular corrosion and maintaining the weld's corrosion resistance.

3. Medium-High Temperature and Slightly Corrosive Chemical Environments: 321 is better.

321 has stronger high-temperature resistance and resistance to thermal corrosion, suitable for 400–600℃ conditions and chemical pipelines and boiler fittings. 304 is not resistant to medium-high temperature corrosion and is prone to oxidation and rust at high temperatures.
