254 stainless steel welded pipe, commonly known as 254SMO welded pipe, is a type of super austenitic stainless steel welded pipe, corresponding to UNS number S31254 and German grade 1.4547. It belongs to the 6-molybdenum super stainless steel series and is named for its approximately 6% molybdenum content. It is not a duplex steel, but a high-alloy austenitic stainless steel, possessing extremely high resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking.
Standardized specifications ensure product quality and interchangeability.
Outer Diameter Range
10mm - 3000mm
Customizable special specifications, covering small to large diameters.
Wall Thickness Range
0.5mm - 30mm

Length Specification
Fixed length 6m/12m, custom length, single length/double length
Maximum length up to 12 meters; custom lengths available.
Welding Process
TIG, MIG, plasma welding, high frequency welding
Commonly uses TIG/MIG welding to ensure weld corrosion resistance; requires specialized welding wire such as ERNiCrMo-3.
Surface Treatment
Acid pickling and passivation, industrial finish, frosted finish, mirror finish
Acid pickling and passivation are standard treatments to improve corrosion resistance.
Connection Method
Welding, flange connection, threaded connection
Suitable for various installation scenarios.
Key Characteristics and Applications
1. Corrosion Resistance: PREN value (pitting corrosion equivalent) ≥42.5, significantly higher than 316L (approximately 32), particularly suitable for seawater, high-chloride, and acidic media environments.
