Cr9mo Seamless Steel Pipe

Cr9Mo seamless steel pipe is a common name, generally referring to two mainstream 9% chromium-based heat-resistant steels in industrial applications: one is the basic 12Cr9MoI (or 12Cr9MoNT), and the other is the higher-performance T91/P91 (10Cr9Mo1VNb). Due to their approximately 9% chromium content, they possess excellent high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, making them key materials for high-temperature and high-pressure applications.

12Cr9MoI / 12Cr9MoNT seamless steel pipe is a martensitic heat-resistant steel with a chemical composition of approximately 9% chromium and 1% molybdenum.


Core properties:

Upper temperature resistance: Maintains high creep strength and oxidation resistance in high-temperature environments above 600℃.

Mechanical properties: Taking 12Cr9MoNT as an example, after normalizing and tempering, its tensile strength can reach 590-740 MPa, and its yield strength is not less than 390 MPa.

Corrosion Resistance: Excellent resistance to sulfides and hydrogen corrosion, suitable for hydrogen-rich environments in the petrochemical industry.


Key Advantages:

High Cost-Effectiveness: In the temperature range of 600-650℃, its overall performance surpasses that of common 15CrMo and 12Cr1MoV steels, while its cost is significantly lower than austenitic stainless steel, making it an ideal choice for this temperature range.

Mature Applications: Widely used in power plant boilers, petroleum cracking units, nuclear power auxiliary systems, etc., with mature and reliable technology.

T91 / P91 (10Cr9Mo1VNb) Seamless Steel Pipe: This is an advanced martensitic heat-resistant steel improved from 9Cr-1Mo steel by adding trace elements such as vanadium (V), niobium (Nb), and nitrogen (N).

Core Performance:

Upper Temperature Limit: Permissible temperature up to 625℃, a key material for ultra-supercritical power plants.

High Temperature Strength: Maintains extremely high endurance strength and creep resistance above 600℃; its design stress is twice that of traditional 9Cr-1Mo steel.

Microstructural Stability: Optimized heat treatment processes result in a stable tempered martensitic microstructure, minimizing performance degradation over long-term use.

Superior Performance: One of the best-performing ferritic heat-resistant steels at high temperatures, it can partially replace expensive austenitic stainless steel.
